I know for a fact that he's on an extreme end of the spectrum. Either he's going to "suck" very badly or he's going to do a fantastic job at singing.

I'm leaning more toward the "being disliked" end of the spectrum because he's going to sing opera, and I'm sure many people have a pre-determination of whether they like opera or not.

*after singing*

He was definitely not what I expected. He didn't seem as well put together as other opera singers and although he had quite the vibratto (sp?), he was amazing. He contradicted what I expected of him, as well as what the judges expected.

His persona didn't seem too outgoing or heartfelt, possibly because of his facial expressions and his bodily movements, but that was well brought about when he sang, because it sounded very passionate and from the heart.

THE PAINTING!!!!!

It might be out of the ordinary, but what I get from this picture is a person trying to make a statement about the fact that you can not avoid the unavoidable. Problems, conflicts and tragedy in life, just like guns, are everywhere. One can not avoid these things by simply walking away or pretending they're not there. Everywhere one goes there's going to be a problem, even in the "best" of places.

STAR TREK!!!!

"That guy was cute" was my first impression. I hated Star Trek when I was younger. All the characters were ugly and monotone and just plain boring! I don't think I ever sat through more than two minutes of that show when I was younger, mostly because there was a yucky looking guy with a hard-wrinkle face, and they had awkward yoda-like characters. I honestly think that the reason why I've never watched a Star Wars movie is because I always hated Star Trek and thought they'd be a lot alike. Perhaps I'm wrong, well I probably am wrong, but it was just an influence that I was never able to get rid of. They both seemed boring, they both start with STARS, it was "aaahh whatever" to me.

Worst Spring Day Break - Hilarious

My "worst" day in spring break wasn't actually bad at all. What made it bad was who and what I saw that night.

That Saturday before my spring break ended, Iwas invited to a Quinceanera. I didn't know anybody, or so I thought.

Usually Quinceaneras have DJ's and the occasional group. Well as excited as I was, I was disappointed to see that there was no DJ and a very "mexican group" was playing. When I arrived, I was amazed at the sight of hats on everyone's heads, and pointy boots. Yes of course, I knew about this tradition given that I am Mexican, but I had never listened to this type of music, because my dad was very prejucide against it. He called that music "naca" or in other words "ghetto." People bouncing around, that's all it was.

My boyfriend and I went to sit down with my friend that invited me, and as I looked around I knew a LOT of people in that same room. Given that I hadn't told my dad I was going to be with a boy; my dad doesn't know I have a boyfriend, I had to pray that he didn't find out!

To top it all off, I saw my ex boyfriend. My psychotic ex boyfriend who threatened to kill my current one. It was an amusing time. I actually laughed at all of it at the end of the day.

Why are boys stupid?

Just kidding (:

My question is, why are parents so over protective?

Okay I understand that parents need to take care of their kids and what not, but here is why I ask. I have a friend, a guy friend if you must know, and he snuck out of the house at 1 in the morning to have some alone time.

He had been threatened by a guy from school, that he was going to be killed, and honestly I believe that the threatener WOULD indeed do something.

My friend decided to leave, and take his parents car, given that he has no licence, but he needed time alone, WITHOUT anybody questioning him or making him feel worse.

His mother called him and cussed at him, and now he is phoneless, tvless, keyless, computerless. He can't do anything except eat, sleep, shower and go to school.

My parents were quite overprotective too, I couldn't wear anything besides long dresses and jeans among many other things that I won't disclose. But my philosophy always was: a child will do his or her ow will, with or without a parents permission. Of course that's not necessarily true, a kid won't go and do EVERYTHING he or she wants, but if its something a child truly wants, and might deserve to give a try at, for the better or worse, he or she is going to do it.

Wisdom only comes from mistakes.

Why are parents so strict? Well, better said, why are some parents too strict?

I should just ask this guy's mom. Maybe she'll be able to explain herself.
Or I can ask my parents... (:

Homeworkkk :]

Okay so I know it sounds tacky but I always like to be updated on what's going on with the school's back home in Dallas.

I've always been very involved in school, was senior class president and did many activities, so I knew what went on behind the curtain, behind closed doors, behind the masterminds.

The only place where I know there's always a controversial article speaking about schools in Dallas is the Dallas Morning News of course. Although it might not give me specifics as to schools, it will give me main events, and plots of what's going on in the area, and from there I can be updated.

It worries me because my brother is 10 years younger and the rate schools are going sometimes makes me feel that by the time he gets to high school, he might not make it.

In these two articles that I found, one spoke about allowing adults in classes with kids. Or a lack of substitute teachers.

Seriously, why would they allow adults in classes with kids? There are places adults can go. A "child" who is 20 can not remain a freshman in high school. One year worth of mistakes is enough... That many is too many. This is giving children the idea of "oh it's okay to mess up... you'll always have a safety net," and real life is not like that.

As for the substitute teachers, who the heck is going to replace a regular teacher and give lectures and teach? What is gonna happen if one day a teacher is needed and everyone else is extremely busy? These things don't come up on the news because they're not "juicy" controversy, but for someone who's experienced the pressures of developing modern days, it worries me to have someone I love having to grow with this along.

I Spy... World Events!

The single numbered channels are my favorite when it comes down to news.

I know that if something political is happening, or something of "breaking" news, I can flip to 5, 6,7 or a number of that sort :)

Mole

No it's not pronounced "mow-l." Its pronounced "moh-leh."

And it's not a body part or anything regarding a human.

This is a concoction made from peanuts, peppers, chocolate and lots of other "stuff."

As of this moments, I have NO IDEA of everything that Mole consists of but that it's delicious.

I've yet to meet a "mexican" who doesn't LOVE this dish.

At weddings in Mexico Mole would be considered a gourmet dish. Sorta like having gourmet Alfredo pasta at a wedding here. Its pretty

And first....a LIST

I don't think I can really come up with my "favorite food" very easily. Sooo, i'm going to make a list of my favorite types of food, and i'll take it from there. :D

-Pambazo [haha yes, very mexican]
-Chicken Nuggets :D
-Mole [once again, very mexican]
-Chocolate (can that be considered food)

If I were to write about Pambazo's it'd be because they're ONLY found (the original way) in Veracruz, Mexico where i'm from.

About chicken nuggets, they've been my chicken-love ever since i've lived in the United States...

Mole is something RARE

Lets add some dialogue??? [My Narrative]

I seriously took about 45 minutes trying to decide weather I should or shouldn't add dialogue to my paper. Not because I felt lazy or anything but because I didn't see where it would fit exactly.

Of course there are places where there could be dialogue, but it didn't fit the sentiment of my story. Yeah, it's a re-cap of last semester, but I thought it would take out of the feeling of the way I was telling it.

I could be wrong... Heck I probably am, and should add dialogue and spice it up a bit but i'm not exactly sure how to fit it in without having it lose its dramatic-ish tone (because I don't want to make up a dialogue).

:D

D:< "I Don't Wanna"

How do you tell your boss you don't "wanna" remove your piercing?

Okay so I started working this Tuesday and my boss asked me to take my piercing out because "lip piercings" and "eyebrow piercings" aren't allowed.

I mean really? So if a guy were to walk in with his ears pierced? Or one it would be fine?

Or if a girl were to have her nose pierced it'd be okay?

I guess I'm just annoyed because i love my piercing and "I DON'T WANNA TAKE IT OUT."
Hopefully I can put a spacer in and they won't notice. If they do, i'll say I need it for the health of my gums or something.

I hope it works! :D

K'naan's ABC's

The very first impression of this song as "Eminem."
It was like the Eminem era all over again. Not only because of how bundled together his words were but also because because his rhythm AND voice were exactly like Eminem's. I thought it was amusing there for a minute.
Also, I wasn't quite sure what the message was. I took it with one of two, either he was talking about how he has really succeeded (because he really elaborated on it), or he was very angry because things are falling apart in this world. I was pretty confused, and I think it was the first time that I have been confused about a song (or maybe the second time.)

Pants O_O

Pants are pants... Right? Most of the time, I personally take for granted that I own pairs of jeans or sweats. Although I don't own many, at least one pair for every day of the week seems fair game for me. But I know there are people who don't even own ONE pair and yet I still take mine for granted. Jeans/sweats/capris, pants are pants. To me, they're there, I like them, "need" them but don't go out of my way to buy them (specially because I can't find many my size anyway). With all honesty, pants to me is simply another piece of clothing most of the time.

Now if for some reason my pants were taken away, or I didn't have the privilege to own pants anymore, I'd be devastated. Not because I'm this "girly girl" who is obsessed with fashion in any way, but because pants are just my thing. I could not imagine walking outside in 10 degree weather in a long, hand-made dress (like they did in earlier times in my culture). It simply doesn't seem feasible. I could not go to sleep at night without sweats, or some sort of long pants. Pants have become my comfort. I'd much rather wear them than shorts, skirts or anything else imaginable. As naive as it may sound, it's difficult for me to comprehend that there are people who don't own a pair of jeans or pants.

It's good to be reminded of this because we take for granted many of the luxeries we have. If I truly think about it, things such as jeans (or pants), cell phones, hair straighteners, even an education seem like luxeries to many underdeveloped countries of the world but we take them for granted. It's kind of sad that coming from a very poor family I have forgotten these things, so to be reminded it is a good way of realizing how GREAT life has gotten for me and how there are people who aren't as lucky as I have been.

And... I'd like to say that I wouldn't like to see someone running around without pants around here. :)
